Leading from the Front and Demonstrating the True Spirit of a Party Member — The Outstanding Contributions of MCC Southern Urban Environmental Protection’s Excellent CPC Member Wu Dan on an Overseas Project

3 min read

In response to China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the accelerating trend of globalization, MCC Southern Urban Environmental Protection has actively expanded its presence overseas by participating in Belt and Road infrastructure projects. As an integral part of these international projects, Communist Party members have played an irreplaceable leading role. Through their professional expertise and exemplary conduct, they have not only demonstrated the strength of Chinese engineering and technology but also embodied the Party’s spirit of dedication, responsibility, and perseverance, becoming the backbone of overseas project teams.

Rising to Challenges and Adapting to an Overseas Environment

As an outstanding Communist Party member, Wu Dan was assigned to Indonesia in August of last year to participate in the construction of an overseas engineering project. Upon arriving in Indonesia, he encountered challenges that differed significantly from those of domestic projects. The country’s hot and humid climate, together with unfamiliar working conditions, presented considerable difficulties for every employee working abroad.

Wu Dan quickly adjusted his mindset and adapted to the new environment in the shortest possible time. Faced with different subcontracting models and project management practices, he proactively refined his working approach, strengthened organizational and coordination efforts, and established efficient working mechanisms to ensure the smooth progress of the project.

Maintaining Strong Party Connections and Strengthening Ideological Development

Despite working overseas, Wu Dan remained closely connected with his Party branch in China. By making full use of online communication platforms, he regularly participated in Party study sessions and meetings, while consistently reporting both his ideological development and work progress to the Party organization. In doing so, he ensured that his political awareness and commitment remained firmly aligned with Party requirements.

In addition to his professional responsibilities, he actively participated in cultural and recreational activities organized at the project site, encouraging communication among employees and fostering a united, positive, and collaborative team atmosphere.

Leading by Example and Overcoming Challenges with the Team

Wu Dan understands that the success of an overseas project depends on strong teamwork. Working alongside colleagues from different cultural backgrounds and professional disciplines requires close cooperation, mutual trust, and effective communication. As a Communist Party member, he not only provides technical guidance but also leads by personal example, inspiring others through his dedication and commitment.

Throughout the project’s critical phases, Wu Dan consistently took the lead, working overtime and tackling the toughest challenges head-on. Whether addressing complex technical issues or management difficulties, he approached every task with enthusiasm, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility, ensuring that project milestones were achieved on schedule.

During the electrical commissioning of the coal mill damper system, a significant discrepancy was discovered between the control system status signals and the on-site indicator lights. Even after remote operating commands were issued, the equipment failed to respond. Rather than retreating in the face of difficulty, Wu Dan remained determined. He organized personnel from multiple teams, stayed on the front line, and worked continuously for several days and nights. Together with his colleagues, he carefully verified every cable and tested every electrical circuit one by one. Through repeated troubleshooting and adjustments, the team successfully eliminated the fault and ensured the boiler was ignited on schedule.

Wu Dan’s professionalism, perseverance, and unwavering dedication earned widespread recognition and respect from the entire project team, inspiring everyone around him to move forward with confidence.

Overseas projects inevitably involve numerous challenges, including language barriers, cultural differences, limited resources, and demanding environmental conditions. In such circumstances, the firm convictions and selfless dedication demonstrated by Communist Party members become a powerful source of motivation for the entire team. Wu Dan’s experience in Indonesia vividly illustrates the exemplary role that Party members play in overseas engineering projects. Through his actions, he has demonstrated that Communist Party members are not only key contributors to domestic development but also indispensable pillars of China’s international engineering endeavors.

Let us all remain committed to our respective positions, continue striving for excellence, and make even greater contributions in our work as we work together toward achieving the company’s development goals.
