To thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on workplace safety and further advance the 2025 National Work Safety Month campaign under the theme “Everyone Talks About Safety, Everyone Knows Emergency Response—Identify Safety Hazards Around You,” the Waste Gas Treatment Branch Company organized a “New Technology Safety Risk Exchange” activity on June 23. Centered on the “Party Building + New Technology Safety” initiative, the event aimed to strengthen the integration of technological innovation and safety management while reinforcing the safety foundation for project construction.
The activity focused on the branch company’s new technology applications in areas such as carbon capture, deep desulfurization, and sulfur-to-sulfuric acid production. Participants conducted in-depth analyses of potential safety risks that may arise during the construction phase and held comprehensive discussions on corresponding risk control measures.
Yang Jian, General Manager of the Waste Gas Treatment Branch Company, emphasized that the greatest risk is the one that goes unrecognized. As new technologies continue to be introduced into waste gas treatment projects, safety risks are becoming increasingly complex and diverse. He stressed the importance of firmly adopting a “source-based risk prevention” approach by identifying and assessing potential risks at the design stage, preventing hazards from being carried into construction and operation. He also called for establishing a comprehensive risk identification mechanism involving all employees, encouraging personnel from design, construction, and safety management to jointly participate in safety planning and risk assessment so that potential hazards can be eliminated at their earliest stage.
The event served as an effective practice of the “Party Building + Safety” model, enhancing employees’ ability to identify and manage safety risks associated with new technologies while fostering a culture of “promoting safety through technology and ensuring development through safety.” Moving forward, the Waste Gas Treatment Branch Company will continue to explore and improve the “Party Building + Safety” mechanism, integrate it with the practical needs of project construction and evolving technological trends, continuously enhance its safety management capabilities, and support the company’s sustainable, high-quality development.
