On March 1, ahead of the 62nd Lei Feng Memorial Day, the Company’s Youth League Committee, together with the Youth League Committee of the Steel Company and the Youth League Branches of the headquarters’ functional departments, jointly organized a “Lei Feng Month” volunteer activity in Yulongdao Community. Through practical volunteer efforts, the participants carried forward the Spirit of Lei Feng, promoted environmental awareness among local residents, and demonstrated the responsibility and commitment of a state-owned enterprise.
The event began in the morning with community residents gathering in the activity center to watch the documentary Our Lei Feng, revisiting the inspiring stories and legacy of Lei Feng. Meanwhile, volunteers carried out a series of environmental protection initiatives, distributing waste-sorting brochures and cleaning public areas along Yuhu Street. More than ten bags of litter were collected, reflecting the successful integration of volunteer service and environmental stewardship.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of 92-year-old Mr. Wang Bingquan, whose presence deeply inspired everyone in attendance. Mr. Wang is a retired technical expert from the former state-owned Changjiang Cable & Wire Factory (Factory 733). In the 1960s, he moved from Beijing to Wuhan to support the city’s industrial development and has witnessed Wuhan’s remarkable transformation over the decades. When praised by the volunteers for his enthusiasm, Mr. Wang simply replied, “I serve others, and others serve me.” His heartfelt words embodied a spirit of selflessness that has endured for more than half a century and left a lasting impression on everyone present.
This “Lei Feng Month” volunteer activity not only promoted the Spirit of Lei Feng but also enabled community residents to experience the warmth, responsibility, and dedication of the company as a state-owned enterprise. At the same time, it reinforced the message that environmental protection is everyone’s responsibility while advocating the values of helping others and selfless service throughout the community.
